Cultural Heritage Seminar 2024: ‘The Ancient Glass Road: Asuka's East-West Trade Deciphered from the Latest Scientific Analysis’

The ACCU Cultural Heritage Seminar 2024, ‘The Ancient Glass Road: Asuka's East-West Trade Deciphered from the Latest Scientific Analysis' was held on Saturday, 18 January, at the Nara Park Bus Terminal Lecture Hall.
After an opening address by MORIMOTO Susumu, Director of the ACCU Nara, MORII Masayuki, Director of the World Heritage Office, Nara Prefectural Government, spoke of the efforts to register the Asuka and Fujiwara Palace Sites, potentially the fourth site in Nara Prefecture, as a World Heritage Site.
For the main lecture, TAMURA Tomomi of the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, was invited to discuss the trade routes from the continent to Japan and Nara as revealed through the scientific analysis of ancient glass beads, TAMURA's specialty.
