World Heritage Classroom at Nara Prefecture Commercial and Technical High School
2025.02.19
The World Heritage Classroom seminar was held at the Nara Prefecture Commercial and Technical High School on 31 January (Tuesday) and 4 February (Tuesday) for nine second-year students. The students requested the seminars in preparation for next year's Student Commercial Research Presentation Competition, where they will present their research on Asuka and Fujiwara. The request was to hold a presentation on the challenges to tourism at the Asuka and Fujiwara sites, as they are aiming to be registered as World Heritage Sites.
Ms Kayoko Wakiya, Deputy Director of ACCU Nara's Programme Operation Department, and Ms Michiyo Kubo, a freelance presenter and traveller with an interest in World Heritage, were the lecturers for the first and second sessions, respectively. They spoke about the historical background of Asuka and Fujiwara, their appeal as cultural heritage sites, and the introduction of World Heritage tourism overseas.
Both sessions lasted two hours, but the interaction between the lecturers and the students made the time fly by and was very meaningful.
