ACCU Nara Director visits relevant institutions in the Republic of Uzbekistan

2025.02.20

Every year, the ACCU Nara organizes an international training course on cultural heritage protection for countries in the Asia-Pacific region, with many experts from Uzbekistan having participated in the course previously.

This time, the ACCU Nara Office Director Morimoto and two experts visited Uzbekistan from 3-8 February to gather information on the current situation and challenges to cultural heritage protection in Uzbekistan and to see what kind of cooperation could be provided.

They visited many cultural heritage research institutions and museums in Samarkand and Tashkent, including the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS), the Samarkand Institute of Archaeology, Agency of Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Uzbek-Japanese Youth Innovation Centre (UJICY). They received a warm welcome and were able to meet several past trainees.

During discussions at the various institutions concerned, we were able to reaffirm the good relations existing between the two countries.

These visits were introduced on the IICAS and the UJICY websites.
